LIONSROCK - Our Big Cat Sanctuary
There are many big cats living in horrendous conditions, in need of a safe home for life.
Because of this, FOUR PAWS decided to create a sanctuary for big cats and wildlife in need in South Africa in 2007.
The FOUR PAWS Big Cat Sanctuary LIONSROCK consists of over 3,000 acres and is home to more than 100 big cats from all over the world, including lions, tigers, and leopards. These animals are provided with a lifelong, species-appropriate home that is large enough to accommodate family groups, facilitate natural behaviors, and offer the highest standards of medical care and safety. Most of the big cats at LIONSROCK have come from pasts filled with abuse, neglect, or exploitation. This is why we offer these animals a respectful sanctuary with limited to no human interaction (only when medically necessary). Hunting, breeding, and trading of animals is also prohibited.
LIONSROCK also serves as a refuge for many South African wildlife species. Wildebeests, springboks, elands, impalas, zebras, ostriches and a wide variety of other bird species can be seen here, against a backdrop of magnificent sandstone mountain formations. LIONSROCK is open to the public year round and charges no entrance fee.
